Hope is not a strategy ? show me the data! If we cannot express what we know about our process using numbers, it means that indeed we do not know much. If we know not much we cannot control the process. If we do not have control we can only hope, that our suspicions are valid. Precise measurements are the fundamentals of fact-based management which is the only way to achieve continuous improvement of processes and products.

This training shows the importance of the Measurement System. We teach how to check the adequacy of the Measurement System in order to be sure that data which are delivered can be used in business management and the decisions making process.

Training Plan

DAY 1

FORM OF EXECUTION
Introduction to Variation (basic concepts and statistics) lecture
Quincounx: practical exercise that shows why the distinction between common and special cause variation is so important practical exercise
Measurements are the process ? Process Map as main driver for designing data collection plans lecture
Introduction to Sampling: dual level sampling trees, construction and data analysis lecture + practical exercise
Measurement System Evaluation for continuous data using already learned SPC tools lecture + practical exercise + Minitab
Hands-on ? practical exercise: participants conduct analysis of their own MSE and subsequently introduce improvements if needed practical exercise

DAY 2

FORM OF EXECUTION
Gage R&R: construction and analysis lecture + comparison with MSA + examples
Three practical exercises: participants progress through practical examples, from simple to more complex ones practical exercise
Measurement System Evaluation for alternative data (ok. / nok) ? Kappa method lecture + case study
Measurement System Evaluation for scale type measurements ? ICC method lecture + case study
Measurement System Evaluation for visual inspection lecture + case study
Hands-on: practical exercises ? participants conduct and analyse full measurement system evaluation for alternative data type ok/n.ok practical exercise
